New Members information:

Membership procedure:

1. If you are interested in joining, the director will hold an interview with you.

2. Perspective members may attend 2 or 3 rehearsals, then meet with the director to assess if they qualify for permanent membership (also subject to board approval)

Membership qualifications:

Ability  to quickly learn and memorize music.
Voice blends well with the group.
Willingness to work as a team.
Pleasant personality & attitude.
Commitment to rehearsals & performances.
Group size is limited based on balanced sections.
Membership is based on director & board approval.

Member guidelines

Rehearsals:

 

Schedule:

7:15 room is opened for set up/ socializing

7:30 rehearsal begins

8:15 announcements & break time

9:30 rehearsal ends

 

· Arrive on time

· Help set up room/ make coffee/ help tear down (usually the table & chairs remain in place)

· Come prepared with music & pencils

· Record rehearsal if you can, (good learning tool for practice)

· Be respectful of others (no private discussions, wait until break time to use cell phones)

· Allow director to make any corrections that are necessary

· Refrain from making negative comments

 

Performances:

· Arrive at designated location on time (call time)

· Be aware of stage presence and act professionally (no commenting or talking to each other while in front of an audience)

· SMILE and look lively while singing!

 

Recruiting new members:

· Give the name & phone # to a board member, person will be screened for qualifications.  They will be invited to attend rehearsals if they meet our criteria

· Be friendly to newcomer, especially before & after rehearsal & break times. 

· Distribute membership flyers & brochures in your area (coffee houses, schools, churches, libraries, public bulletin boards)

 

Member Responsibilities:

· Pay dues monthly (or in advance) envelopes are available at check in table

· Help set up & tear down for rehearsals if needed

· Distribute choir information (concerts & membership)

· attattend rehearsals regularly

Attendance will be taken weekly please sign in at check in table

 

If you cannot attend a rehearsal, let Director or Board member know prior

If you miss 2 rehearsals prior to a major concert, you will not perform

Members must make a minimum number of full rehearsals for each session in order to perform.   Make up sessions may be available.

· If someone misses a rehearsal, they need to contact a board member for updates. 

 

Types of Membership:

 

bullet

Active:        performing members (attends rehearsals regularly, learns music)

bullet

Associate:  doesn't perform, but is invited to visit & socialize often, and receives up-to-date information                  about the group.  Might offer to  help with concerts & events.
